Parental Consent · Folio · תשפ״ו
For parents of younger learners.
What we do today, what we're building, and what is and isn't yours to allow.
Camp v1 is 18+
The Camp's covenantal rooms — Foundation House, Text House, Main Camp, Inner Architecture, Execution OS — are reserved for adult learners at v1. This is a structural decision: the Camp is a guarded vessel, and we'd rather build the parental-consent and minor-safety infrastructure properly than route teens into adult spaces with hand-waving.
What younger learners CAN use
Threshold-level study tools — source sheets, Hebrew letter sheets, verse breakdowns, study plans, questions-for-a-rabbi packets — are open. Younger learners can keep an account, save what they study, and return to it. They cannot post in Camp rooms or receive direct messages.
COPPA (under-13, US)
Children under 13 in the United States need verifiable parental consent before creating any account beyond fully-anonymous use. The consent flow with email-verified parental sign-off is part of v2 (Family Mode); until it ships, under-13 sign-ups are blocked at the welcome step, and Threshold-level tools remain accessible unauthenticated.
GDPR Article 8 (under-16, EEA + UK + Switzerland)
The same principle applies, with the threshold at 16 (some EU member states have lowered it to as low as 13). Until Family Mode ships, under-16 in the EEA is treated like under-13 in the US: welcome step blocks the account; Threshold tools stay open unauthenticated.
Family Mode (Bayit) — what's coming
Family Mode adds Ryzowy Bayit, a household add-on. A parent-guardian creates the household, invites a spouse, and creates child profiles for ages 13–17 (and, with verifiable consent, under-13). Children walk a Teen Gate set of rooms with guardian-supervised posting; they generate household-owned artifacts (family Hebrew practice, household Shabbat plan, holiday prep) that the parent-guardian sees. Minor-owned soul documents remain private to the minor.
Family Mode is documented in the rework plan; it ships in stages after Camp v1. We are not rushing minor-safety infrastructure.
What is and isn't yours to allow
Ryzowy structures the student. Whether and how a Jewish minor in your household engages with Torah belongs with you, with your rabbi, and with your community. The platform is a study aid, not a rebbe and not a beit din. We won't make spiritual decisions for you.
